Back 2 School Dayz
It’s that time of year! Send ’em back! Our daughter actually started last week!? Anyone else go back that early? Hard to believe that I have a high schooler now! In any case, since Target put their Back 2 School stuff out in June, the sales might be over already, but we are just getting started!
If you missed it, I created a coaching product to help make some form of personal coaching accessible to just about everyone. So far, it’s just my best marathon programs (see list below). I am working on adding other distances. This is what we are generically calling Hybrid Coaching and is a hybrid of taking our plans that are proven to work, coupled with personal coaching.
- Boston Plans
- NYC Plans
- 9 Day Cycle Plans
- Alternator Plans
- Classic HMM Plans
Why is this a better option than a plan or personal coaching?
Well, better depends on the user. We believe that everyone should be utilizing a coach in some capacity. We know AI is hot right now, but there are also a lot of things AI doesn’t get. Calculations- all day long. Nuances of training- not so much. This is a great way to get training that works, but have access to the person who wrote the plan and knows the training.
How can it be so much cheaper, but still be coaching?
When you sign up for coaching, a lot of your fee is paying the coach for the time they will spend on you and your training. With this option, a lot of the setup is already done. You buy the plan you want, plug in your race date and goal time, then shazam! You have a calendar full of workouts with exact paces. Takes a lot of work out of my hands. I get to focus on just reviewing your logs and providing feedback every week or so.
I have been coaching since 2006. I’ve coached a lot of people. I’ve had a lot of people tell me they want to do it on their own. Basically, we’ve seen a lot. From my experience, runners want a plan and need a plan. They’d benefit from a coach, but they either don’t think they want to pay for one, or they don’t think someone of their “level” should be using a coach. To that I say, “Ok, so I coached middle schoolers for a few years. Those kids are the very definition of beginners. Don’t you think they needed a coach? It’d be better to turn them loose on the track for 90 minutes and see what happens?”
The other thing I see is everyone (myself included) promising unlimited contact with your coach. And that’s true; you can text, set up video calls, and email back and forth. The truth is, we are all busy people. Most people don’t want to sit down for a weekly 30-minute video call. They have stuff to do! I have stuff to do. The truth is, if you fill out your training log and I look at it regularly, we can be on the same page pretty easily. That’s what makes this option very appealing. I am not promising the world, and I’m asking you to give up any more of your time. I’m here when you need me, and I’m simply asking you to do what any runner should be doing anyway- filling out a log. (It literally takes 2-3 minutes on the app).
Now, if you are looking to get real help from a real coach, but not quite ready to go full personal coaching, then this is the best option for you. You’ll get the results. You’ll have the confidence going into race day. Finally, you’ll start the process of really learning how to train so the same mistakes aren’t made that were made in the past.
Our Back 2 School Sale: 10% off the plans. This means you get coaching for about $15/week. That’s a pretty unbeatable deal, if you ask me! No code; I’ve just changed the prices. Good from now through 8/31/26
