Excellent question. Unfortunately, not a super easy answer. The basic answer would be yes/no!!! So, I understand that half pace, especially for the beginners, is no where near LT. The truth is, 10k pace is probably closer to true LT pace for these folks. However, I wouldn’t touch either of those workouts, for various reasons. But, yes, the “strength” in the half plans can probably be adjusted. now, even if 10k pace is close to 10:00/miles, I wouldn’t adjust the strength to 10k pace. The length of the repeats is pretty long. If you open the structured workout builder, you could actually change this to LT/half strength. It still will not be true LT, but you’ll be spending long periods of time at a point where you’ll be bumping up pretty darn close to that LT.
